I’m the worst at being consistent.  I am more of the “let’s go hard for a period of time, get the thing figured out, and then be done with it”  type of guy.

How long do you think it takes for a guy to overcome a porn habit.  The experts and the research shows minimum 6 months but up to 2 years.   It’s harder to overcome a porn habit than a cocaine addiction. You can get rid of cocaine to keep from relapsing but even if you get rid of porn the fantasies can live on your brain, allowing you to relapse virtually anytime.

We are going to need consistency.  The moment I confessed everytime to my group was an important moment in breaking free – maybe my most important moment – but was even more important was the continual confessing that came after that.

In the moment it was hard to be consistent but looking back and thinking through the fruits of everything, it was a piece of cake.  It was 100% worth it. And if I can do it, so can you.

For today’s task, watch this short animated clip from Simon Sinek and answer the questions:

Intensity vs Consistency (3 min)

  1. As you watched the video what correlations were you making between what he was saying and breaking free from a porn habit?
  2. What are some specific things that might happen in your life if you were able to consistently be vulnerable with those trying to help you break free?
